Online Safety Guide For Parents
The Secretary of Education, the Federal Trade Commission chairman, and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman have jointly announced the publication of an online safety guidebook for parents. The publication is entitled Net Cetera: Chatting with Kids About Being Online. The guidebook is designed to help parents teach children about navigating the Internet safely. It addresses many topics that children should be aware of in using the Internet, including the safe use of social networking websites, dealing with cyberbullying, and how to protect computers from viruses and spyware. The guidebook includes practical suggestions for children of all ages and also includes a helpful glossary of terms.
Early childhood programs in Virginia public schools provide a foundation for learning and academic success. School-readiness activities focus on phonological awareness, vocabulary, number sense and physical, motor and social development.
The King and Queen County School Division is seeking four-year-olds to participate in the Virginia Preschool Initiative Program. The program will offer a full day pre-kindergarten curriculum.

A collection of frequently asked questions about the Parent Portal was published for division and school staff in the Support section of PearsonAccessnext. It also is attached to this email for your convenience.
The Parent Portal opened for families on Friday, April 29, 2022, and contains Student Detail by Question (SDBQ) Reports and personalized videos for completed tests from the Grades 3-8 Reading and Mathematics Test Administration. The portal is being refreshed every Friday morning throughout the test administration.
Title I Parental Notification
Under Title I, Part A all parents have the right to request information about professional qualifications of their child’s teacher. This information may be requested through the office of the Director of Human Resources located at King and Queen County Public Schools, 242 Allen’s Circle, Suite M, King and Queen Court House, VA 23085.
